The departure of Romelu Lukaku is a big deal for Everton, who now have to find someone capable of offering the same qualities, which includes finding the back of the net 20+ times in a season.
A host of strikers have been linked with the Toffees, and we can now add a new one to the list thanks to Carlo Jacomuzzi, one of the club’s scouts, who was spotted in Milan, where a lot of the transfer business in Italy is sorted out.
Speaking to Radio CRC, relayed by AreaNapoli, the former Novara footballer spoke about a few players, including Napoli’s Duvan Zapata, who spent last season on loan at Udinese.
He said: “Bacca and Zapata could be interesting profiles, but one excludes the other. In the next few days, we’ll speak with Milan, Fiorentina, Napoli and other teams, and we’ll see if anything happens.
“€25m for Zapata? That’s too high, but Aurelio De Laurentiis has the right to ask for what he wants for his players.”
Looking at the teams mentioned by the Everton scouts, on top of Carlos Bacca and Duvan Zapata, a certain Nikola Kalinic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park in the past, could be back on Ronald Koeman’s wishlist.
The Croatian striker was he more prolific of the three, scoring 15 league goals, compared to Bacca’s 13 and Zapata’s 10.
However, the Napoli loanee is by far the youngest at 26, with the Fiorentina forward (29) and AC Milan striker (30) both considerably older in football years.
While they’re there, it wouldn’t be surprising if Everton also had a chat with Sassuolo regarding Diego Falcinelli, who was linked with a move to Goodison Park last week by Gazzetta dello Sport.
So many options…
