Everton were among several clubs who had an official in attendance at the Estádio do Dragão to watch FC Porto’s league clash against Sporting on Saturday.
Details of clubs that send officials to watch matches in Portugal are often made available to the country’s newspapers.
That’s what happened after the Lions’ 3-0 defeat to Porto yesterday, where Everton are named by A Bola.
The Toffees were joined by scouts from Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, Juventus, AS Roma, Bologna, OGC Nice and Marseille. That’s all the newspaper has to say.
Everton already used the Primeira Liga when signing Rúben Vinagre on loan from Sporting this summer. Back in June, O Jogo reported the Merseyside club had asked about Porto midfielder Otávio.
The Brazil-born Portugal international played the full 90 minutes against Sporting, in front of the Toffees official.
Otávio joined Porto from Brazilian side Internacional in 2014 and his current deal expires in 2025.
