Everton are said to have made a €15m bid for River Plate Rafael Santos Borré after his impressive performances this season.
Borré has been the star of the show for River Plate this season, with seven goals and one assist in 11 league games this season, as well as two goals in the Copa Libertadores.
That’s attracted the attention of Everton, with FOX Sports claiming the Blues have submitted a bid for the 24-year-old forward.
That’s according to both Comu Tricolor and Publimetro, who both say FOX Sports have named Everton as the party who are interested in the striker.
That was information we were unable to confirm, although with two sources claiming it comes from there it’s likely it was a TV report, so not available online.
What we were able to find is journalist Carlos Antonio Vélez, who works for Antena 2, confirming that there has indeed been an offer for Borré.
Talking on Palabras Mayores, he explained that there is an offer on the table for ‘between €12-15m’ but did not name names, specifically Everton.
However, it seems that if the Blues have bid, they may be frustrated. While River Plate could do with the money, Borré has a release clause of €30m and River would presumably want closer to that.
The player himself would prefer to stay in Argentina, where he’s flourished after arriving from Atlético Madrid in 2017, but River’s desires may change that.
According to Toda Pasión, they are refusing to acknowledge the bid for now and won’t do so until after the Argentine Cup final on December 13th, meaning if Everton are keen, they’ll have to wait to try and get him.
