Everton’s interest in Napoli midfielder Allan remains ‘strong’, with Carlo Ancelotti, a ‘great admirer’ of the player.
The Blues are expected to be on the hunt for a new central midfielder this summer, that area of the team having long been a weak point in the squad.
Allan is one player who has been heavily linked, with Ancelotti a known fan after working with him during his time in charge of Napoli.
Numerous reports named him as a target in the January transfer window and, although a move never happened, it has been widely suggested that Everton would come back in the summer.
That chance could come his way, with it explained Allan’s relationship with the Serie A club has been ‘worn’ to the point that an exit is the only solution, with various incidents, including him, trying to force a move to PSG last year, causing friction.
Napoli are happy to sell, and their asking price has dropped from the €80m they wanted then to around between €40-45m.
That’s a much more affordable sum, although still high and one that the Napoli chief will not offer any discount on.
Everton are those pushing hardest, but PSG remain ‘in the background’ and ‘continue to appreciate’ the Brazilian.
However, given they signed Idrissa Gueye last summer, and he’s been a success in France, their interest may not be as strong as it once was.
Juventus are also unlikely to make a move despite having once been linked, potentially paving the way for Ancelotti to reunite with Allan at Everton in what would be a significant capture for the Toffees.
