Everton are ‘ready to welcome’ Aaron Ramsey to the club in January, with the Welshman pushing for a move away from Juventus.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say a move away from Italy is ‘certain’ for Ramsey in the winter transfer window.
They explain that the former Arsenal midfielder is currently the fourth-highest earner at Juventus on €7m a year, a figure the Serie A giants would be more than happy to get rid of.
That’s something Ramsey is pushing for himself as he is keen to play more often than he is currently managing under Max Allegri.
He’s counting on the fact that he rejected ‘many proposals’ in the summer, so should have interest again come January.
He never moved then because the offers on the table didn’t tempt him, particularly when it came to salary, but the ‘doors will open again’ in January nonetheless.
Indeed, the reports says it’s ‘increasingly likely’ he’ll end up at Everton, who are ‘ready to welcome’ him to Goodison Park if he is available as expected.
Now, there’s no mention of a transfer fee here. Ramsey’s contract is set to expire in 2023, so Juventus may push for something, but a free transfer can’t be ruled out.
There’s also no hint at what sort of wages Everton would be offering, although the hint is that they would be providing something more satisfactory than what was offered elsewhere in the summer.
€7m seems unlikely given the state of the Blues’ finances, although they do have some room after getting rid of James Rodriguez, so perhaps that is what they are using to fund this move.
