On Wednesday, ESPN Brasil reporter João Castelo Branco brought a story confirming the rumours which said Carlo Ancelotti wants to take Richarlison to Real Madrid.
The online piece claimed that the former Everton boss has asked the Spanish side to make the signing, and his club would now work to see if the transfer would be possible.
It turns out that later on, the journalist was live on ESPN to bring some more details about the news.
He points out that Everton won’t want to lose their ‘main player’, and after spending ‘£50m’ to sign him from Watford, they will certainly ‘want a lot more than that’.
It’s claimed that Real Madrid are going through a difficult financial stage and ‘it won’t be easy’ for them to find money to afford this transfer.
As pointed out by us yesterday, João Castelo Branco is a correspondent who isn’t usually involved in transfer rumours, and only comes up with news like this when he’s sure of what he’s talking about.
Richarlison gave a press conference in Brazil today, ahead of the Copa America final against Argentina.
There was obviously one question regarding the Real Madrid rumours, but the Everton star did his best do dodge it (via Globo Esporte): “I’m a guy totally focused on my work, I live in the now, I was also recently called up to the Olympics in the middle of the semifinal game. My focus remains the same, it’s the Copa America, I want to lift that cup. It’s my second competition for the national team, I want to raise the cup with this shirt.”
