It’s no secret that Manchester United want a centre-back this summer, with Raphaël Varane the apparent number one target on their list.

There have been multiple suggestions talks have taken place between the player and the Premier League side, while the Red Devils do keep back up options, such as Jules Koundé, also chased by Tottenham.

While Spurs do indeed seem to have an interest in the Sevilla star, the desire to work together isn’t necessarily reciprocal, and targets such as Takehiro Tomiyasu or Joachim Andersen might be better for Fabio Paratici to focus on.

We mention the Dane, because it’s explained by Foot Mercato that both Tottenham and Manchester United are interested in him.

Loaned from Lyon to Fulham last season, the Euros semi-finalist, who replaced Andreas Christensen on Wednesday night in Denmark’s 2-1 loss to England, impressed despite the Cottagers being relegated back to the Championship.

Foot Mercato look at what business the Ligue 1 side could undergo in the transfer department this summer, and Andersen is expected to leave.

They state both Tottenham and Manchester United ‘have their eye on him’, and a sale of around €30m is ‘hoped for’ this summer.

We’ll have to see if either team are prepared to go that high for the centre-back, but if none of their prime targets are available, they might have to fall back on him later on in the window.
