Over the past few weeks, Everton has been discussed as one of the possible destinations for Real Madrid’s James Rodríguez.

Four days ago, we relayed news from Spain that Carlo Ancelotti is ‘pulling strings’ to sign the Colombia international.

The 28-year-old worked under the Italian at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and the manager even tried signing the 28-year-old for Napoli last summer.

AS on Tuesday explains the South American is wanted by Everton, along with Manchester United, Juventus and Napoli. England and Italy are viewed as ‘two powerful markets’ for him.

It’s claimed the Merseyside club have ‘asked about his situation’ at the club, given that Rodríguez enjoyed a good spell with the Spanish side when Ancelotti was in charge at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Luckily for Everton, Real Madrid are also ready to open the door for the player’s exit in the next transfer window because he will not be included in Zinedine Zidane’s plans for next season.

According to the report, Rodríguez is ‘very close to finishing his second stage at Real Madrid’ and he will be given a free access to decide his next destination.

Whether it will be Everton or another club remains to be seen.
