Henry Onyekuru’s agent Guillaume Costet-Barmada has spoken to Russian website Sport24 and confirmed the Everton attacker has rejected the chance to move to CSKA Moscow this summer.
Speaking about the Nigerian international, Costet-Barmada said they had an offer from the Russian club: “We had a proposal from CSKA Moscow, but Henry decided to reject that offer.”
There have been recent claims in Russia that CSKA were keen to sign Onyekuru but it seems they will lose out on the Everton youngster. The Russian side have already brought in Nikola Vlašić in this transfer window on a permanent deal.
However, despite Onyekuru turning down a move to the Russian Super League club there’s still a possibility he could go out on loan next season, with Galatasaray still interested in the 22 year old.
Recent reports from the Turkish press said Galatasaray have made a €1.5m offer to Everton for Onyekuru, who is under contract with the Toffees until June 2022.
The Turkish side are in a tricky financial situation and they can only loan the player, just like they did last year.
Onyekuru has yet to make his debut for the Merseyside club due to work permit issues.
