As the European transfer window comes to an end, plenty of players will be scrambling to get themselves a last-minute move and new start.
Kevin Mirallas is a player who undoubtedly falls in that bracket. The Belgian returned to Everton after a loan spell at Fiorentina last season, but it’s clear he has no future at Goodison Park.
He’s been linked with a return to Belgium as a result, with several rumours over the past week saying a move could be imminent.
Those rumours intensified last night when he was seen taking in Antwerp’s 4-1 loss to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
Indeed, we covered a report from Het Nieuwsblad who stated Antwerp were keen on Mirallas and viewed him as a ‘prestige transfer’.
Antwerp approached Everton about a transfer earlier in the transfer window, but a transfer was too expensive, and they decided to look elsewhere.
However, the newspaper believes with the end of the window in sight and Mirallas getting increasingly desperate; he could ‘significantly’ lower his wage demands to get a deal done.
There is a suggestion that Antwerp’s elimination from the Europa League could prove to be a spanner in the works, but with Everton keen to sell and Mirallas wanting to return home, there seems every chance the relevant parties can work something out.
