All is not well with Argentina. The country’s loss to Bolivia this week has prompted yet more soul searching for the national team, especially when added to Lionel Messi’s ban for the next three matches.
There’s a real chance Argentina could miss out on qualification for the next World Cup so Ole! newspaper have asked their readers to vote on who should be in and who should be out.
With a simple display of cards and a tick or a cross given, almost 150k people have helped build up a picture of what the Argentine public want, and it’s very good news for one Everton player.
Overall the most wanted player is Paulo Dybala, even more so than Messi, in third place is Gabriel Mercado and then it’s Ramiro Funes Mori. A huge 85% back the Everton defender to be part of the Argentina set-up, and that’s only 5% less than Messi got.
Funes Mori is clearly loved in Argentina for his approach to the game and willingness to leave everything on line for his country.
Unfortunately for Everton, the defender left a little bit too much during the Bolivia match and Ronald Koeman won’t be able to count on him for a while.
On Thursday it was reported in Argentina that Funes Mori is set for surgery on a meniscus tear and won’t play for Everton again this season.
