Everton didn’t use to be one of the clubs who had regular scouts watching games in Portugal, but things have changed a little since Marco Silva’s arrival at the club.
The Toffees have been watching some sides, especially Benfica, on a regular basis. And club officials have been spotted once again on Thursday night.
As reported by newspaper Record, Everton had emissaries keep an eye on the Eagles’ Europa League clash against Galatasaray.
Record doesn’t name the specific targets the Toffees were following, although we might have a couple of ideas about their targets.
One player who’s certainly of Everton interest is Henry Onyekuru, owned by the club. Currently on loan at Galatasaray, the player is having a good season for the Turkish side, although he wasn’t able to do much last night.
There’s also a Benfica player who’s been linked to Everton in the past couple of months, and that’s Andrija Zivkovic. He didn’t enter the game last night, and stayed on the bench for the 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw.
So the official was either on a transfer mission, window ahead of the summer, of watching Onyekuru to see if he can be part of the club’s squad next season.
This match also attracted scouts from Juventus, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Milan, Sevilla, Arsenal and Real Valladolid.
