Real Madrid are eyeing Manchester City striker Ferran Torres and Everton star Richarlison as alternatives to Erling Haaland, if they cannot sign him next summer.
That’s according to El Nacional, who say both players are on Florentino Perez’s list of options should the Norwegian star move elsewhere.
Haaland is set to be at the centre of the big transfer tussle of next summer, with a release clause coming into play at Borussia Dortmund.
All the big clubs in European football are thought to be keen to make their move, including Real Madrid, who have spent this year recalibrating their finances to ensure they can make big moves next year.
With competition fierce, though, there is every chance they will miss out on Haaland, and it seems Perez has drawn up a list of alternative options.
One of those is Manchester City star Torres, who has been shining at the Etihad since arriving from Valencia last summer.
He is now a rising star for both club and country, and this has alerted Real Madrid, who have made him ‘one of the priorities’ should they fail to get Haaland.
They’re looking at the Spaniard ‘just in case’ they can’t convince Haaland, but Guardiola is ‘clear’ on his stance, Torres won’t be going anywhere.
He’s currently valued at around €50m, and with a contract until 2025, there is no need for Manchester City to sell. Not that they would either, with it made clear they are ‘very happy’ with his performances and are ‘not considering’ selling him.
That leads to Richarlison, with it stated that the Everton star is ‘also on this list’ of alternatives that Perez has compiled.
He ‘improved exponentially’ at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti’s leadership last season, and the Italian would ‘welcome his arrival’ at the Bernabeu were it to happen.
In his case, there is no mention of a price tag or the Toffees’ stance, but it’s easy to imagine they’ll be as reluctant to lose their star as City are.
