Everton midfielder Allan is set to provide ‘witness evidence’ next week in his ongoing legal battle with former club Napoli.
That’s according to Area Napoli, citing Il Mattino, who provide an update on the Everton man’s battle with the Italian side.
You may remember back in August; we explained how Allan was facing a fine of up to €160k from his former club, who were suing after a big player revolt under Carlo Ancelotti.
It all relates to an issue in November 2019 when the then Napoli squad was ordered to stay at a training camp for a week amid a bad run of form.
Napoli weren’t very happy about the player’s refusing and going home, threatening to sue them all and dish out fines, with Allan’s set to be around €160,000.
The whole thing has since gone to court, with the Everton midfielder recently described as one of ‘the promoters of the mutiny’ and Napoli demanding 50% of his wages in compensation.
Well, Il Mattino, pick up on that today and confirm what’s going on, including that 50% fine that’s been mentioned previously.
They explain that historical Neopolitan criminal lawyer Arturo Frojo has been been appointed as the arbitrator for the Napoli-Allan case, which will get underway next week.
According to their information, Napoli are demanding a fine equal to 50% of Allan’s monthly salary at the club, which he is naturally disputing.
After five technical hearings next week, the arbitration is set to get underway on the 14th with a meeting in a law firm, where the Everton man will be called to give witness evidence by video conference.
How long the arbitration will last isn’t mentioned, nor is the fee Allan is facing, minus it being 50% of his wages at Napoli at the time of the incident.
By all accounts, though, it’s going to be a long, drawn-out process and one we’ll keep you abreast of should any updates appear in Italy.
