Ben Brereton Diaz could ignore an offer to move to Everton to help Blackburn Rovers return to the Premier League this season.
That’s according to journalist Enzo Olivera, who has revealed background on the player’s situation to Red Gol.
Diaz has been linked with a move to Everton in the last few weeks, with them determined to add more firepower to their forward line and replace Richarlison following his move to Tottenham.
That’s seen them linked with Diaz, who shined in the Championship last season, but it seems their efforts may have been in vain.
Olivera explains that while Everton’s offers ‘seduces’ the player, he would prefer to leave Blackburn after first helping them return to England’s topflight.
Everton ‘do not yield’ in their efforts to sign the forward and made that clear by making a ‘new and better offer’ for him but the player has a ‘firm desire’ to remain at Ewood Park.
“Ben is very attracted by the offer, I have good contacts with his entourage,” he told La Clave on Red Gol.
“But he is determined to give Blackburn Rovers a helping hand from a sporting point of view.
“If he leaves there will be a significant financial gain for the club, but he has it in his head that he wants to return the club to the Premier League.
“Everton’s offer comes to £18m, almost €20m, a figure that is not small for a project like Everton, in a city that breathes football, but needs goals.
“Ben is very undecided according to what they tell me, if I have to give an opinion, and I hope I’m wrong for sporting reasons, I think he wants to stay at least until mid-season at Blackburn.”
