On Wednesday, we covered a story from Italy claiming Everton were looking for a new creative midfielder, with Luis Alberto at Lazio one of the possibilities.
This came from Il Tempo, claiming Carlo Ancelotti’s side could launch an assault for the former Liverpool player, but it appears they also have alternatives, still in Serie A.
The news comes from Calciomercato in a very short article claiming both Leicester City and Everton are interested in Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskiy.
The Ukraine international, who has 32 caps and six goals to his name, arrived at the Bergamo based club in the summer of 2019, and has so far performed well under Gian Piero Gasperini, scoring nine goals and assisting another nine in 53 appearances.
This form, and his ability to play either as a central midfielder or a bit further up the pitch, appears to be what has caught the eye of both Brendan Rodgers and Carlo Ancelotti.
They aren’t the only ones either, as Inter, always on the lookout for new midfielders, it seems, are also mentioned.
Currently contracted to Atalanta until 2024, it seems unlikely the Italians would want to let him go so quickly after signing him, but money (which Leicester and Everton do have) talks, and it certainly shouldn’t be too hard for the Serie A side to make a profit on their initial £12m purchase.
