Sabah report Premier League clubs are showing a strong interest in Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida, and that Everton are currently leading the race to sign the Croatian.
It’s reported Everton manager Marco Silva is keen on working with the player as he’s hoping Vida could be the man to replace Ashley Williams at the heart of Everton’s defence for next season.
According to Sabah, Besiktas president Fikret Orman is looking to get at least €15m for the player and he’s happy to wait until after the end of the World Cup as he’s hoping Vida’s impressive form could increase his value.
Everton reportedly could face competition from fellow Premier League sides West Ham United and Fulham, but as it stands the Toffees are in pole position to sign the player.
The central defender impressed again last night against Argentina and his stunning block in the later stages of the game helped Croatia to another clean sheet.
Vida joined Besiktas from Dynamo Kiev on a free transfer in January but the Croatian has struggled to cement a regular place in the team.
The Turkish media are talking up Vida interest, perhaps beyond what it is, and certainly his potential fee.
