Everton will send scouts to Turkey this week to watch the game between Besiktas and Lyon.
CNN Turkey have reported Everton will be present at the Europa League quarter final clash, and will be joined by Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, Hannover, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, PSV, Twente and Anderlecht.
It’s claimed Everton will have one objective in Turkey… looking to get a lowdown on Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The Besiktas midfielder has become one of Turkish side’s key players since signing from Arsenal, and has been instrumental in their title challenge. Everton will be aware of his contract situation with Besiktas, and could look to take advantage.
Ozyakup has just over a year left on his contract with the Turkish league leaders, but there have been reports he will hold talks to extend this beyond June 2018. He has been linked with a move back to England in the past 12 months, with reports West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.
Despite the Turkish claims, interest in Ozyakup seems overstated. There’s every chance Everton are watching someone else.
