Chelsea still haven’t made any direct contacts for the signing of Emerson Palmieri from Roma, his agent has revealed. Last month, the Daily Mail reported the player was identified as a possible target for Antonio Conte, although the details of the chase were not revealed.

But speaking to Calcio Mercato, Palmieri’s agent Fernando Garcia said Conte’s club are still to start direct talks for the signing: “With Chelsea we have nothing concrete, only middlemen contacts.”

Signed from Brazilian side Santos for only €2m, Palmieri has not only been impressing Roma, and allegedly Chelsea, but also those in charge of the Italian national team.

The player has an Italian passport, and according to the local media will be soon called up to represent the country as he never managed to get a cap for Brazil’s senior team.

Considering Palmieri’s recent form and call up to the national team, he would obviously leave Roma for much more than what he was bought for.
