With clubs scrambling to get deals over the line before the World Cup begins, when things start in Russia the focus of the market will change slightly.
Every day will likely bring a new standout player and whilst clubs don’t often go into the transfer market waiting to be wowed in the World Cup, it happens every four years.
Some clubs already have targets they want to keep an eye on in Russia and from an Italian perspective, Il Messaggero look at that on Thursday.
Everton get a mention from the Italian newspaper and it stated that AS Roma and Premier League clubs, ‘especially Everton’, will be watching Hirving Lozano. The Mexican attacker is one of those expected to shine for his country and if he does so there’ll be no shortage of calls to PSV.
There’s an obvious Toffees advantage in the form of Marcel Brands. Whilst Everton’s new director of football likely won’t want to upset PSV, if other clubs move for Lozano then Goodison Park is as good a destination as any.
And, considering De Telegraaf this week reported Roma’s first offer for Justin Kluivert was €10m, something which the Dutch newspaper said was laughed at, PSV may prefer to deal with the Premier League club.
