After a disappointing first year at Everton, it seemed almost inevitable that Moise Kean would end up back at Juventus this summer.
The Italian side were keen on adding a fourth striker to their squad, and identified Kean as an ideal option and all the dominoes appeared to be lining up nicely.
Everton, though, resisted their efforts and held out until the final day of the window, when they, quite surprisingly, elected to send Kean on loan to Paris Saint Germain.
That’s proven to be a masterstroke, with the Italian shining alongside the likes of Neymar and Mbappé, scoring goals, breaking records and generally having a great time in the French capital.
That’s not gone unnoticed back in Italy, with Juventus looking on envious and pretty disappointed that he’s not doing it for them.
Il BiancoNero cover the situation today and explain how this season has been something of a ‘cursed’ one for Paulo Dybala, who simply hasn’t been able to shake off injury issues.
That’s left Pirlo clinging to Ronaldo and Morata and why the club still maintain this idea of signing a fourth striker to rotate in and out.
They consider such a player the ‘missing piece’ in the squad and that feeling has increased month by month alongside their feeling of ‘regret’ over the failure to get Kean back.
The website explains that Fabio Paratici ‘really thought’ about bringing Kean back to Turin to fill the role of fourth striker that the club now desperately need.
They instead invested their money on Federico Chiesa and Kean has been ‘reborn’ in Paris after a ‘year of darkness’ at Everton.
That’s left Juventus looking on wistfully and dreaming of how that ‘resurrection’ could have been taking place alongside Ronaldo and Morata instead.
Of course, there’s no way of knowing whether Kean would have enjoyed a similar return to form had he gone to Italy, but it seems Juventus are certainly sorry they didn’t give it a shot.
