It’s no secret that Maxi Gomez is close to leaving Valencia, as recent reports from the Spanish media have been talking about his likely departure in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Now as a story from Germany talks about the striker’s situation, they point out Everton as one of the clubs who could end up landing him.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg shares ‘exclusive’ news that Gomez wants to leave Valencia, and now there are a handful of clubs interested in the 26-year-old.

Everton are on the list, along with Borussia Monchengladbach, Fenerbahce and Newcastle United.

Plettenberg doesn’t have specific information on the chase from each of those clubs. He just points out that the price tag is around €12m ‘at this stage’, and that’s too expensive for the German side.

Earlier, we’d already seen the Spanish media speaking of Newcastle’s interest in Gomez, despite claiming he was closer to Fenerbahce.

Those claims stated that €8m may be enough to seal a deal.

Now with Everton joining the competition, this race could certainly get a lot more interesting.
