There’s a (mis)conception in the European sport media that Everton are rolling in lovely money, and it’s going to take a lot of Marco Silva saying otherwise for the message to get across.
Of course, there’s money in itself, but potentially not the ability to spend it.
Silva made it clear this week that signings, at least for reasonable fees, are unlikely at Goodison Park this month, and the manager insinuated he’s going to have to get a little creative.
Over in Belgium, they still believe Everton can throw a load of money at Chelsea and snatch Michy Batshuayi, somewhat against the player’s wishes.
DH go over the well pushed out claim that Batshuayi wants to sign for AS Monaco on loan for the rest of the season, but Chelsea are looking to bring in cash from a permanent sale.
As it stands, the striker remains at Valencia until something can be agreed about his next destination, Chelsea aren’t going to rush things when there’s no urgency needed from their perspective.
DH say Everton are ‘very interested’ in the player, in what would be a permanent deal, and that they have plenty of money to do the deal.
