So out of the blue, Everton are being linked to Brazilian striker Dominic Vinicius. Along with Porto and Brondby, the Toffees would be following the 22-year-old who has been doing pretty well in the Danish league for Vejle BK.
Well, that’s what we read in A Bola today, who have a short pagaraph with all this information, reporting the player’s stats and everything to show he deserves some big attention.
But this story sounded strange from the beginning, and five minutes of digging is enough to convince that we can’t just believe it right away.
First, it’s very likely that A Bola got the story from website All Nigeria Soccer. They claimed that Vinicius is indeed on the radar of all these clubs, including Everton, because they watched a game in which he did pretty well.
But was that really what happened? We can’t be sure. Because what All Nigeria Soccer was doing was just covering a report from Scouts in Attendence, a Twitter account which points out where English club representatives have been, and they didn’t do it right.
Here’s why: All Nigeria Soccer claimed that the scouts watched Vejle BK playing Viborg, a game in which Vinicius scored a brace.
But what Scouts in Attendence said is that Everton, Porto and Brondby were actualy watching the game against Esbjerg, and pointed out that Vinicius had done well in the past weekend against Viborg.
So All Nigeria Soccer couldn’t even report the game right, and without checking it, A Bola got carried away.
That’s a total mess, with people trying to make the story much bigger than it actually was. Everton may be impressed with the striker, but the the rumour as it stands is simply untrue.
