With Idrissa Gana Gueye’s move to Paris Saint Germain on the brink of completion after he underwent a medical today, Everton will now be on the hunt for a replacement.
Gueye will be leaving a significant hole in the Blues midfield and replacing him will now have become a top priority, even if they’re still on the hunt for a new forward.
Everton have been linked with several replacements over the last week or so, and it seems Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is a name to add to the list.
France Football report that the Blues have the 24-year-old Slovakia midfielder at the top of their list to replace Gueye and that those in charge at Goodison Park are ‘big fans’.
Lobotka isn’t the only player on the list, with Jean-Philippe Gbamin also named as a potential target. The link to the Mainz midfielder isn’t a new one, however.
The links to both players shows that Everton have identified what they want to replace Gueye and are looking at players that fit into the same mould.
Who they end up signing remains to be seen, but the fact they seemingly have multiple targets lined up shows they’ve been planning for Gueye’s departure for some time and that a replacement could arrive sooner rather than later.
