Everton are interested in Roma duo Steven N’Zonzi and Cengiz Ünder but face Premier League competition for both players.
First, N’Zonzi. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, both Everton and West Ham are interested in the central midfielder, with Lyon also admirers.
N’Zonzi is currently out on loan at Fenerbache in Turkey but hasn’t had a good time with the Süper Lig.
The midfielder joined the club in the summer and has made ten starts for them in the league this season but was recently suspended by the club after an incident in training.
According to Gazzetta, that is an option for the 31-year-old, with Everton and West Ham both interested in a deal this month.
The newspaper does not mention what sort of deal both clubs are looking at, be it a loan or permanent, just that the interest is there.
N’Zonzi’s preferences aren’t shared either, although it’s fair to assume that a move to Everton or West Ham would be better than staying in Turkey at this stage given what’s happened there.
Ünder meanwhile, is another that could leave Rome this month having fallen down the pecking order at the club.
Everton have been linked in the last few weeks and Gazzetta back up those claims, saying they, and Tottenham, have ‘set their sights on him’.
Roma are only willing to sit down if ‘an important offer’ is made, though, with them needing at least €35m before they would be willing to negotiate a deal.
Whether that’s a price either club is willing to pay isn’t mentioned, but they would likely want to negotiate it down considerably given Ünder’s struggles this season.
Nonetheless, Everton are keen on doing some shopping this month, and it seems Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights firmly on Rome.
