Everton have held ‘new contacts’ with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot via his mother and agent Véronique.
That’s according to Il Bianconero, who say that the French midfielder is the ‘main objective’ for the Toffees this summer.
Rabiot has been linked with a move to Everton ever since Carlo Ancelotti arrived at the club, with the pair having enjoyed a fruitful relationship at Paris Saint Germain.
The midfielder was named as a target throughout the January transfer window last year but ultimately remained at Juventus.
He’s been a regular under Andrea Pirlo this season, but recent reports have linked him to Everton again, with it stated that Ancelotti wants a reunion with the player, and the Blues were willing to do everything to make it happen.
That was followed by claims Everton were looking at a €15m deal, and Juventus could be tempted to sell at that price as it would represent a massive gain on a player they signed on a free.
Il Bianconero now pick up on that and say that since Ancelotti’s arrival, Everton have had ‘more and more appeal’ on the transfer market.
That’s seen them target Rabiot and Roma defender Gianluca Mancini this summer, with the Juventus man the ‘main objective’ of those two.
Indeed, they’ve even held contacts with his mother, Véronique, who also happens to be his agent, about a potential move to Goodison Park.
It’s explained the player is ‘very close’ to Ancelotti, who handed him his debut at PSG and is a big fan of the player, having even spoken about him in his book.
Juventus are open to talking about the player with Everton, but they want €30m, a price that is ‘too high’ for the Toffees at this moment in time.
Thus, it seems there’s work to do on that front, but this is a rumour that’s starting to pick up pace and looks like being something that we’ll be seeing a lot of come the summer.
