Everton forward Cenk Tosun has told the Turkish media he had a chance to sign for Crystal Palace last summer, but is glad he joined the Toffees.
Tosun signed for Everton in the January window for a transfer fee in the region of £27m.
Speaking to TRT Spor, Tosun was asked about his move to Everton and the interest from Crystal Palace: “I was wanted by Crystal Palace at the beginning of the season but I did not go, now I am at a much bigger club.”
Earlier this season we covered reports from Turkey that Crystal Palace were willing to pay £22.4m to sign Tosun, after they failed to land the player in the summer.
The Premier League side had a bid accepted by Besiktas in August, but the offer came too late in the window for the Turkish champions to bring in a replacement.
Tosun eventually signed for Everton and yesterday was his side’s hero, scoring two goals in the 2-1 win against Stoke City.
