The last we heard from Marc Cucurella was a few weeks ago, when Everton were going to find out whether or not they could hold talks with the Barcelona defender ‘in the coming weeks’.

We’ve now reached that stage, as Mundo Deportivo in Spain have an update on the situation, explaining the La Liga side have already made the left-back a contract renewal offer, which he has turned down.

This, of course, is good news for Ronald Koeman, since Cucu’s priority was to see if Barcelona would hand him a contract that would ensure him a future in Catalonia, but it’s not quite time for the Toffees to get the banners out just yet.

While the 19-year-old and his representatives have said no to Barcelona, they are happy to wait and see if Luis Enrique’s side will come back with something better.

In the meantime, Mundo Deportivo make it clear the defender has, in fact, received an offer from Everton to bring him to Goodison Park in the summer, seeing as his current deal expires in June.

It seems Cucurella would far prefer to stay where he is if possible, but if Barcelona don’t meet his expectations, he will have to turn to the Premier League offers currently gathering dust on his agent’s desk.
