Crystal Palace have joined the race for Everton striker Cenk Tosun, who is widely expected to leave Goodison Park this month.
Tosun is currently on the fringes of the Everton squad, having returned from a long-term knee injury earlier this year to play second fiddle to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
He’s played a substitute role at best so far, a less than ideal situation for the striker, who is keen to be fit and firing ahead of the European Championships this summer.
That’s sparked plenty of rumours that a move is on the cards and several clubs are thought to be interested in his signature, with West Bromwich Albion chief among them.
Hertha Berlin and Schalke in Germany are also keen while Besiktas have made it known for several months that they would like to bring him back to the club.
Crystal Palace can now be added to that list, with Fotomac reporting that he has been ‘asked for’ by the Eagles.
Fotomac do explain that the Everton striker remains ‘the favourite name’ at Besiktas, but the player’s wage demands are ‘burning hands’.
In other words, he’s asking for too much to make a deal happen.
That means Crystal Palace have one less competitor if they are genuinely interested, which would not be surprising given the striker was on loan with the club last season and left a positive impression before his injury.
Fotomac say Tosun is ‘considering accepting’ the Palace offer.
