Santiago Arias has seen his playing time limited at Atlético Madrid this season as the right-back has made only 11 appearances in all competitions. His last outing came in his side’s 2-2 draw against Valencia on February 14th.
AS claims the 28-year-old’s future with Diego Simeone’s side could be uncertain and clubs have ‘called’ Atlético to ask about the Colombia international’s situation beyond this season.
Everton and Napoli are clubs who have contacted the La Liga side, with the report adding that Inter Milan became the latest candidate to join the race for Arias in the last few hours.
Antena 2 from Colombia also mentions Arias would have options in the Premier League.
It’s claimed there’s talk of Everton as their manager, Carlo Ancelotti, previously wanted to sign Arias for Napoli. The English club’s current interest suggests the Italian coach remains an admirer of the fullback.
Everton currently have the services of Séamus Coleman, Djibril Sidibé and Cuco Martina as the three right-backs at Goodison Park.
Martina hasn’t featured in any competition for the Toffees this season and his contract expires after this season. Sidibé is on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco and the Merseyside club have an option to make permanent in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether or not Everton will submit an offer to sign Arias in the next transfer window.
