Roma have taken ‘steps forward’ to securing Bernard from Everton, with the player accepting the club’s salary offer.
That’s according to Leggo, who say the Brazilian is willing to accept a ‘reduction and spreading’ of his wages from €4m to €2.5m in order to reunite with Paolo Fonseca.
Bernard has been linked with a move to Roma since the summer when the Italian side tried to sign him at the end of the transfer window.
A move from Everton never happened, but they’ve remained keen, with it felt that they could do a deal this month instead.
That report also said Bernard had agreed to reduce his wages and Leggo back that up, saying he is happy to go from €4m a year to €2.5m.
They also say that an exchange with Olsen is ‘possible’, although there is no mention of whether Roma are negotiating a deal with Everton as yet.
If Ancelotti is to be believed that isn’t the case, with him stating today that there had been no contact with Roma over Bernard.
However, the Serie A side are clearly working to get to that point, and it would not be surprising for that to change in the very near future.
