Barcelona could inadvertently help Everton in their pursuit of Real Betis’ Álex Moreno this summer.
The Blues were linked with the Betis star earlier this week, with AS claiming they were watching him ahead of a potential move.
It was reported that Betis were open to allowing him to leave if they received a ‘convincing proposal’ that would see them triple what they paid for the 26-year-old.
The suggestion was that they would be reluctant to lose one of their key players but, Barcelona could help change that.
La Razón explain that, should the Spanish giants elect to sell Junior Firpo, who they signed for £16m last summer, that could work in Everton’s favour.
Firpo would be open to returning to his former club and, should that happen, then Betis would be ‘more open’ to parting with Moreno.
That would, of course, suit Everton, who would presumably be looking at bringing down his asking price considerably if Betis became more open to a sale.
Whether they will be moving for Moreno at any point, though, is debatable.
They already have Lucas Digne at left-back, and there is no desire to move Leighton Baines on despite his advancing years.
It would make the Spaniard an unnecessary signing at this point, especially with them needing to focus their efforts and spend their money elsewhere this summer.
