Everton are in contact with Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai striker Igor Jesus about a move to Goodison Park.
That’s according to Jeunes Footeux, who say the Blues are already talking to the Brazilian about a potential switch to Goodison Park.
Jesus has been shining in the UAE Gulf League this season, with 11 goals and 11 assists in 22 games in the league so far.
That has apparently earned the 20-year-old attention from Europe, with Jeunes Footeux stating that Marseille are already eyeing a move.
They currently have Arkadiusz Milik leading the line but, while his deal runs until 2022, the Polish striker has hinted he could move before then.
As a result, Marseille chief Pablo Longoria is ‘actively working’ on several potential replacements, and one of those is Igor Jesus.
It’s explained the 20-year-old is one of the names that Longoria ‘has ticked’, with his impressive numbers, ‘fast and technical’ play style and ability to play with his back to goal all big plus points.
Marseille aren’t the only ones to have noticed him, though, with Everton described as ‘competition’ for his signature.
In fact, they appear to have already moved, as the website insists they are ‘already in contact’ about a move, which is likely to cost around €10m, although Jesus is valued at €4.5m.
At this point, that is all the information on offer, so we’ll have to remain a little cynical, although it is a move that would make plenty of sense.
Those impressive numbers aside, Jesus represents a very Marcel Brands type of signing; he’s young, clearly has some talent and could be potentially be sold on for a big profit in the future.
There’s also the Richarlison factor, with Everton keen to keep tapping into that market after their success on that front.
With a dubious source and little else on the matter, though, we’ll wait for more information before getting really excited about this potential deal.
