Needing a backup goalkeeper to push Jordan Pickford at Everton, Marcel Brands decided to turn to AS Roma’s Robin Olsen for the role.
Following some disappointing seasons in Italy, both at AS Roma and then at Cagliari, the Swede wasn’t really expected to have much impact, and yet he’s pleasantly surprised everyone.
Carlo Ancelotti has previously said he’d rather like it if Olsen stayed beyond his current loan deal, and it appears Brands is willing to give the Italian what he wants.
This comes from Corriere dello Sport, who take a look at the potential comings and going at the Serie A side, explaining their goalkeeper ‘will remain at Everton’, with the Premier League side ‘already communicating the intention to purchase him’.
With Pau López potentially heading back to Spain as well, Roma will need to find a starting goalkeeper, with Udinese’s Juan Musso the favourite.
He won’t be cheap, but the money from both Olsen’s sale and that of López would likely go a long way to getting him.
Either way, it seems Olsen will be a Blue for a while longer.
