Football agent Claudio Vagheggi has warned Napoli it is “absurd” to think they can get €70m from Everton for midfielder Allan this summer.
The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A club this summer, with them expected to overhaul their playing squad.
Allan is chief among those on the sales list, having failed to agree a new deal at the club after seeing his relationship with them deteriorate following a failed move to Paris Saint Germain.
Everton are among those to have been linked with his signature, with Carlo Ancelotti thought to be a big fan of the midfielder after working with him in Naples.
They looked close to sealing a move in the January transfer window, and although that never happened, they continue to be linked with making a move this summer.
Napoli’s asking price has been a significant obstacle to any transfer, with it felt that the club’s chief Aurelio De Laurentiis will demand a substantial fee for the 29-year-old.
Rumours have suggested that price could be as high as €70m, which would be an extremely difficult price for any club, notably Everton, to pay given the financial restraints caused by the Coronavirus outbreak.
Vagheggi certainly believes that is the case, warning Napoli they can’t afford to push for the fee they may have got last summer.
“Allan? With the crisis we are talking about, it seems absurd to me to rate Allan in the same way as last year,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Napoli Magazine.
“Last year he was close to PSG. We know that Napoli is a difficult club to deal with, especially during the sale.
“Napoli adopts a strategy that is not very suitable for Napoli.
“I think Everton may be interested but if Napoli intends to collect 70 million the player could stay in Italy.”
