Napoli midfielder Allan ‘virtually embraced’ Carlo Ancelotti, ‘immediately accepting’ his offer of a five-year deal at Everton when given the chance to.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who state that the Blues are still ‘far apart’ from Napoli when it comes to agreeing on an asking price for the Brazilian.
Allan has been heavily linked with a move to Everton since January, but those talks have sped up this week after it emerged the midfielder had made it clear he wanted to join the Toffees ahead of anyone else.
Indeed, reports this week have indicated that the two clubs were getting ‘closer and closer’ to a deal and one could be completed by the weekend.
However, Corriere dispute that, stating that the two clubs are still ‘far apart’ with ten million still separating them from an agreement.
The newspaper backs up claims that Allan wants to move to Everton, stating he immediately accepted their offer of a five-year deal, which they speculate is worth €6m a year.
They don’t, however, agree that a deal is close to being completed and state that while there are ‘daily’ phone calls between the two clubs, neither wants to take the step forward or backward to reach an agreement.
In other words, Everton don’t want to raise their bid, and Napoli don’t want to lower their asking price at this moment in time.
Thus there is no ‘approach plan’ to speak of, although this could be facilitated by the bonuses that will be included in any deal.
They are, however, confident of that deal happening stating that the ‘conditions exist’ for an agreement, as does the desire from every party, it is merely a question of finding some kind of compromise on the money involved.
Everyone wants that to happen, suggesting that it will at some point sooner rather than later, which is very much the tone from elsewhere in Italy.
