Everton have been told they are getting a bargain for Napoli midfielder Allan, with €24m plus bonuses a ‘small amount’ to pay for him.
The Napoli midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Everton since January, with Carlo Ancelotti having identified him as the ideal addition for his midfield.
Negotiations have been ongoing for months but have picked up over the last fortnight, with it now widely felt that the Brazilian is on the verge of completing the move.
The negotiations over the move dragged on for months over Napoli’s asking price, with Aurelio de Laurentiis first demanding at least €40m for the Brazilian.
That’s a price Everton have negotiated down over the last few months, with it now looking like they will pay in the €24m range plus bonuses.
That fee has been hotly disputed among Everton fans, with some questioning the logic in paying such a price for a 29-year-old who will have little resale value once his proposed deal at Goodison Park comes to an end.
Ex-Napoli manager Gianni di Marzio (back in the lates 70s), though, believes they are getting a good price for a player who is currently a star for the Brazilian national team.
“Should Allan be kept or sold for more money? Yes, he depreciated,” he told Marte Sport Live, relayed by Area Napoli.
“It had to be put in the window in Via Montenapoleone in Milan or in Naples in Via Dei Mille to sell it”.
“In the Brazilian national team, he is a starter. Twenty-four million euros plus bonuses, for such a midfielder, for me that’s a small amount.
“Today he has a little market, but before he was a starter. I don’t know what happened with the club and Gennaro Gattuso, but he’s still a strong player, on the run, who attacks space and is an example in terms of character.
“It’s no coincidence, I repeat, that we’re talking about a Brazilian starter.”
