Everton are among the clubs interested in AC Milan’s Franck Kessié should he leave the Serie A side this summer.
The midfielder is in the third year of his spell with Milan, however, it’s long felt he’d be sold if a good offer comes in.
He has regularly been linked with a move away over the last year, particularly to the Premier League, with Wolves regularly named as suitors in the previous summer transfer window.
That move never materialised, yet his future remains in the air, according to Tuttosport, who say there is still interest in the Premier League.
They explain that, while Kessié is keen to stay and that option has ‘gained more authority’ of late, the midfielder remains one of the ‘most admired’ players at the club in terms of interest from other teams.
Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso remains a big fan and would take him to the club after they worked together in Milan, but the prospect of a swap deal involving striker Arkadiusz Milik has ‘faded’ amid interest in the striker from Juventus.
Thus, the interest from the Premier League has now come into focus and Everton are among those who are keen.
They have added the Ivorian to their list of potential reinforcements for midfield, which has been a problem area for several years.
The problem has recently been exacerbated by the situation with Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who is expected to miss at least five months recovering from an injury suffered during the lockdown.
The Blues are on the hunt for a midfielder as a result and Kessié is one they are interested in should he be available, with it felt the Premier League would perfectly suit his ‘characteristics’.
Any potential move to Everton, though, will depend entirely on Ralf Rangnick. He will decide on the player’s future and whether he wants him at the club for his ‘project’, meaning Everton may have to wait before making their move.
