Standard Liege’s players have been told there is no money to pay them until the end of the season, with Everton buyers 777 Partners currently out of money.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who covers the situation at the Belgian side today and how it’s going from bad to worse for Everton’s potential new owners.
Tavolieri reports that while no details have been made public officially, the situation at the club ‘remains tense’ and those in charge are struggling to contact the American managers at 777 Partners.
The club’s accounts are currently empty and Standard Liege’s players have been informed that, unless there’s a last-minute change, they won’t be paid until the end of the season.
Reports yesterday made it clear that they had not been paid for April as it was and claimed 777 Partners had promised that would be fixed by Thursday, but it now appears that won’t be the case.
It’s a further worrying development for 777, who appear to be besieged by financial issues and debtors chasing them at this moment in time, all while trying to finalise their purchase of Everton.
A report from De Morgen yesterday indicated that the previous owners of Standard were mobilising to try and get the club back, and perhaps this latest development will push that forward.
Either way it should be yet another warning for Everton and Farhad Moshiri, who at this point surely want to avoid 777 by any means necessary.
