Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has been a vital player for Southampton as he’s started in 22 games in the league this season.
The Saints captain’s performances have been ‘so good’ that it has attracted interest from another Premier League club.
According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, there’s been ‘even greater’ interest from Leicester City in the 24-year-old.
It’s claimed the midfielder’s name is ‘so hot’ and Brendan Rodgers would ‘very much’ like to bring him to the King Power Stadium. The report even adds there’s been contact between the parties.
Tottenham interest is referenced, but there’s no further information on that.
Any approach from the Foxes or other suitors will see them spend big. For the Saints to sanction the Denmark international’s sale, they need a hefty fee.
With Højbjerg’s contract set to expire in 2021, Ekstra Bladet adds Southampton will sanction his sale if there’s an offer they deem reasonable. However, the newspaper doesn’t mention what would be the ‘right amount’ needed to acquire his services.
