Bayern Munich were keen on signing Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi in January 2019, but a deal never materialised and the winger later went on to sign a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old struggled with injuries and form last season, which restricted him to only seven starts in the league.
However, that hasn’t stopped the European champions from renewing their interest in the England international.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who state the teenager would prefer to go out on loan after Frank Lampard’s side invested heavily in bolstering their squad, particularly their attack, this summer.
Apart from Hansi Flick’s side, Juventus are also interested, and RB Leipzig have asked about the player. Leipzig, however, cannot financially manage to sign him even on a loan deal because Hudson-Odoi earns €8.5m annually.
According to the report, there’s been contact between Bayern and the attacker’s camp. The treble winners would only consider taking Hudson-Odoi on a loan deal with a purchase option.
Sky, however, stressed the German champions have ‘not officially spoken or negotiated with Chelsea’.
Ivan Perišić spent the last season on loan at Allianz Arena from Inter Milan, and the Croatian has now returned to the San Siro. Bayern are in the market looking for a replacement for Perišić, and Hudson-Odoi is now viewed as one of the options.
