At the start of this month, L’Equipe reported that Liverpool are in the picture to sign Lille star Jonathan David, with these claims then backed up by the same newspaper on December 9th.
Fast forward to Thursday, and the Reds keeping on eye on the striker is again discussed in today’s edition of L’Equipe, with the report focusing on players at the French club who have managed to garner interest from elsewhere.
Regarding the 21-year-old, it’s claimed he is ‘very well followed, especially by Liverpool’.
However, the Ligue 1 winners have no plans to cut ties with him in the winter market and his ‘departure would rather take place next summer’.
The Merseyside club monitoring the Canada international is also reported by Jeunes Footeux.
Ever since he swapped Gent for Lille in 2022, the attacker has gone from strength to strength.
This campaign, he has 14 goals from 25 matches, surpassing his last season’s tally of 13 goals.
David’s form and goalscoring record has not gone unnoticed.
It’s claimed ‘several clubs are interested, and in particular Liverpool’.
With a potential move delayed at least until next summer, the report states Lille would ask for ‘no less than €50m’ to cut ties with David.
