A week after Chelsea appointed Thomas Tuchel as Frank Lamaprd’s successor, reports in Germany started linking Bundesliga players to the west London club.

On February 3rd, SportBild explained the Blues have Bayern Munich duo Niklas Süle and David Alaba, and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano in their summer ‘shopping list’.

However, those have now been reduced after Upamecano’s move to Bayern was made official last weekend.

Fast forward to Thursday and Munich based newspaper Abendzeitung have come up with a report, titled, ‘Several top clubs are chasing Niklas Süle – especially Chelsea’.

Within the report, it’s stated the centre-back is in ‘great demand’. Even though AZ explain the player is wanted by various clubs, only the Blues get a mention.

It’s claimed Tuchel is ‘vying intensely’ for the Germany international, whose future with the Champions League winners is ‘uncertain’. The defender’s contract runs down in 2022.

According to the report, a move away from the club in the summer is not excluded, while there’s also a possibility of the German could sign an extension.

Süle ‘feels at home’ in Munich and Hansi Flick ‘trusts him’. In addition to this, Bayern haven’t sent a signal to the player they want to sell him. Upamecano’s arrival will improve competition next season, but the 25-year-old remains ‘relaxed’ about this situation.

AZ explain Süle’s focus in the coming weeks is to ‘convince with top performances and make himself indispensable for Bayern’.

Even if Süle succeeds, but doesn’t end up signing an extension, then there’s a possibility of Bayern looking to cash in from his sale in next window.
