Franck Kessiè’s rise at Milan these past few months has been very interesting to watch, as the Ivory Coast international repays his club’s trust in his services following various rumours of a move to England.
Take the summer of 2019, for example, when Wolverhampton Wanderers came in with a bid of around €28m for the player’s services, but the midfielder turned down the chance of a transfer to the Premier League.
Things have changed a lot since then, with teams such as Arsenal and Tottenham now reportedly interested in Kessiè, who is valued far higher than the above figure.
This comes from Calciomercato.it, who explain it’s ‘especially’ the Gunners and Spurs who are ‘thinking about’ the all-rounder, but ‘the feeling is Milan will not deprive themselves of their player for less than an offer of €40-50m’.
There is also ‘the desire to tie him down as soon as possible’ since his current contract expires in 2022, with the parties ‘working to find an agreement’.
That suggests Kessiè is more than happy at San Siro, meaning either Arsenal or Tottenham would have to be rather convincing to both Milan and the player to get a deal done.
With the club now comfortably top of Serie A after 10 games, there is little reason for him to leave apart from money, but as the website put, if he ‘wanted Milan in difficult moments, he wants them even more now’.
