The entourage of Cesar Azpilicueta won’t hide that they’re aware of interest from Barcelona, report Catalan newspaper Sport on Tuesday.
Barcelona are looking for a right back, and whilst Hector Bellerin is the club’s first choice, there’s an awareness it will be difficult to take him back to the Camp Nou. Therefore, two back-up options have been picked out.
One of those is Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, and the other is Bayer Leverkusen’s Benjamin Henrichs. If Barcelona feel signing Bellerin from Arsenal will be hard, then it’s probably worth them considering Azpilicueta has a contract with Chelsea until June 2020.
Should Antonio Conte want to keep the player then it’s highly unlikely Chelsea would look to sell anyway, and Azpilicueta doesn’t seem like the type who would kick and scream to get a move.
Whilst Azpilicueta’s entourage acknowledge there’s been interest expressed from Barcelona, that’s as far as it’s gone to this stage.
A transfer would be unlikely this summer.
