Tottenham Hotspur have included Royal Antwerp’s George Ilenikhena in their target list, according to Voetbal Krant.
The 17-year-old has featured regularly in his debut season, managing 14 goals and an assist from 46 games.
His performances have left Premier League, where Tottenham are in the mix, and Serie A sides impressed.
Gazzetta dello Sport talked about Inter Milan’s interest in the striker recently. Voetbal Krant relay that and then provide their own update on this case, which is when they mention Spurs.
With the expected departures of Alexis Sánchez and Marko Arnautović, the Nerazzurri are looking to bolster their attack for next season. The Nigerian could be an option and their interest in him isn’t new.
Ilenikhena’s ‘potential is enormous’ and the interested parties like Tottenham and Inter seem to be aware of this. Royal Antwerp invested €6m to buy him last summer and ‘want at least €20m’ for the frontman in the next window.
Voetbal Krant explain the Belgian club’s demand doesn’t suit the Italian club. This, coupled with wealthy English clubs getting involved in the battle could make it difficult for Inter to sign him.
Only Ange Postecoglou’s side are mentioned in the report and it’s claimed they have the youngster ‘high on their list’.
Back in January, Ilenikhena revealed that he hopes to be in the Premier League in the next few years… Tottenham can help him fulfil his wish.
