Despite being linked to Spartak and Sporting in recent weeks, with pretty strong evidence to back up both rumours, John Terry and Aston Villa refuses to die.
News that the move to Spartak is wobbling, despite Terry taking a medical in Italy for the potential move, has inevitably led to claims Aston Villa are back in the picture.
Russia’s Sport Express reports ‘there are difficulties’ on the move to Spartak, after everything had looked almost done and dusted.
There’s no problem on the contract offered, that’s fine for Terry and had already been accepted, and the medical in Italy is said to have gone absolutely fine.
A ‘pause on the official announcement’ is because Terry and his family are having doubts about the move to Russia.
Sport Express put this down to ‘numerous negative publications about our country in the English press’.
Spartak have until September 14th to complete the signing, but this wobble is presented as serious, and Aston Villa could therefore step in.
Terry impressed for Villa under Steve Bruce last season, both on and off the pitch, and may feel better about a return to the Championship club.
