Aston Villa reportedly showed interest in Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos in the last window but weren’t able to get a deal over the line.

The Villans haven’t forgotten about the midfielder and Unai Emery continues to lead Aston Villa’s pursuit, if a report from ElDesmarque is to be believed.

It’s claimed the manager, who has identified the 27-year-old as the priority objective for January, ‘continues to think very seriously’ about signing him.

Until the winter market reopens, the outlet says Emery will continue holding talks with the Spain international and will try to ‘convince’ him to join the Premier League side.

The player missed the start of the season due to a hamstring injury and the Villans boss is of the belief he won’t be able to enjoy regular game time with the La Liga side for the next three months.

Even though Emery ‘insists’ Aston Villa sign his compatriot, the report states it’ll be necessary for the English club to find out the conditions needed to take him away from Real Madrid since Ceballos recently signed a new deal until 2027.

Emery, for his part, will continue his efforts to persuade Ceballos to join Aston Villa.
