In the past two windows, Arsenal were credited with interest in Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi.

Despite failing to land him, the Gunners aren’t willing to give up their pursuit of the 24-year-old. That’s according to Fichajes.net, who state Arsenal want to sign him in January.

In the summer window, Mikel Arteta showed keen interest in the midfielder, however, no progress was made in this deal since the north London club prioritised other targets.

It’s claimed the Premier League side have now placed Zubimendi on top of their priority list for January.

The Spain international has a €60m release clause and the report explains that Arsenal are ‘seriously considering’ activating it.

Fichajes.net state the possibility of Arsenal making an attempt for the player ‘looms over San Sebastián’ and the La Liga side’s fans ‘fear’ he could ‘pack his bags’ next year.

The outlet only focuses on Arsenal’s stance and makes no mention if Zubimendi is willing to make a switch to the Emirates.

He has a goal from four appearances this season.
